Detected is a trust platform that brings business verification, identity checks and ongoing compliance into one operating environment for organisations onboarding and managing customers, merchants, suppliers and partners.
We help teams establish trust without making customers navigate unnecessary complexity. From the first onboarding question to an ongoing review, the customer experience and the compliance work belong together.
Trust should help business move forward. Not hold it back.

2020 The beginning
Detected began in 2020, when the pandemic exposed how difficult it could be to verify suppliers quickly, even when essential goods were urgently needed.
Liam Chennells and Peter Youell brought experience in digital commerce and technology to the problem. People behind businesses deserved the same considered onboarding experience they had come to expect as consumers.
The opportunity was bigger than a faster check. It was to connect customer information, independent data and compliance work in one place, so organisations could establish and maintain trust throughout a relationship.
The team behind Detected
Commerce experience. Engineering depth.
Co-Founder & CEO
Liam Chennells
Liam’s background spans digital commerce and technology businesses including eBay, Zalando and EasyPost. He brings a focus on customer experience and on making complex business processes work better for the people using them.
Peter brings experience in enterprise commerce, software engineering and technical leadership. He and Liam first worked together in 2012, before founding Detected to connect a better customer experience with the infrastructure behind it.
Our team brings together a wide range of expertise. From commerce product and high-volume engineering expertise through to services operations and, importantly, first-hand compliance experience.
Solutions Director Josie Upton, for example, brings the perspective of someone who has led compliance operations in large global payments businesses, helping connect platform capabilities to what teams need in practice.
Guide customers through a journey configured around your requirements. Collect information and documents in one place, with a clear connection between what the customer submits and what your team needs to review.
02
Business and identity verification
Bring customer declarations and independent sources together to understand businesses and the people behind them. Give your team the evidence it needs to assess a relationship, without moving between disconnected systems.
03
Screening and due diligence
Run relevant checks within the same workflow and connect the results to the customer record. Investigate risks and exceptions with the wider context in view.
04
Case management and decisioning
Configure policies and workflows around how your organisation operates. Keep evidence, reviews and decisions connected so teams can act consistently and understand how a decision was reached.
05
Ongoing monitoring
Keep the relationship in view after onboarding. Identify relevant changes and bring them into the same compliance environment for assessment and action.
Customer experience and compliance operations belong to the same platform. For PHH Group, that meant replacing slow handoffs with a configured operating model and reducing end-to-end onboarding from one month to seven days.
A clearer onboarding journey helps customers complete the process and gives teams better information to work with. Fruugo more than doubled monthly merchant onboarding capacity and reduced average onboarding time by 53%.
Configured workflows move routine cases forward while bringing genuine exceptions to the compliance team. Navan reduced its average onboarding decision time from 52 days to one day.
Brand Hub gives each brand its own look and a wide range of onboarding modules to personalise customer journeys. Your team manages those distinct experiences from the same central platform.
Detected connects specialist providers within one operating workflow and supports partners through white-label, embedded and commercial models. Partners can extend their proposition without building the whole compliance platform themselves.
Results reflect individual customer implementations. Outcomes vary with requirements, configuration and operating model.

Detected is a platform. It brings customer-provided information, independent data and compliance workflows together, helping teams manage the full relationship rather than a single check.
Does Detected support both KYB and KYC?
+
Yes. Detected supports business verification and identity checks within connected onboarding and compliance workflows, including the people associated with a business.
Can partners offer Detected under their own brand?
+
Detected supports white-label and embedded partnership models. Brand Hub enables distinct branded customer journeys within one central compliance environment.
Who owns the compliance policy and decisions?
+
Your organisation retains control of its policies and decisions. Detected provides the technology to configure workflows, organise evidence and support consistent execution.
What results have customers achieved?
+
Take a look at the Case Studies on the site. We are limited in the information we can share as there are so many customers who we work with via our partners and simply because the performance of onboarding can be a very sensitive metric.
How do we get started, and what does it cost?
+
Start by sharing your requirements through our contact form. We will discuss your operating model, scope the configuration and integrations, and provide a proposal covering pricing, contract terms and implementation.
